Arts Council England announces support for Cultural Export and Exchange

Today (15 January 2015) Arts Council England opens new International funds. The £18m Cultural export and exchange programme will run from 2015-18, promoting the best of English arts and culture overseas and bringing outstanding work from abroad to English audiences.

Culture Minister Ed Vaizey has placed a temporary export bar on a newly discovered 16th Century manuscript, thought to be the earliest surviving English translation of any work by the great humanist scholar and reformer Desiderius Erasmus. It will be exported overseas unless money can be found to match the asking price of £242,500.

Culture Minister Ed Vaizey has placed a temporary export bar on a marble sculpture of two young ladies dancing by the neoclassical Italian sculptor, Lorenzo Bartolini. It will be exported overseas unless money can be found to match the asking price of £523,800.
